Jan-Philipp Schäfer (31) has taken over the position of Head of the Cologne Convention Bureau (CCB) with effect from February 01 of this year. In this function he will continue to promote the national and international positioning of the Cologne meeting market and the networking with business and science in Cologne. Jan-Philipp Schäfer succeeds Christian Woronka, who took over the management of the Vienna Convention Bureau at the beginning of the year.

Before moving to Cologne, Schäfer was employed as Manager International Market Relations, Southern Europe at the German National Tourism Board (DZT).

Schäfer (31) had previously gained several years of experience in the MICE and tourism sector at Engadin St. Moritz Tourismus GmbH, where his special areas of responsibility were foreign marketing and regional conference management. Jan-Philipp Schäfer graduated with a master’s degree in sport tourism and recreational management from the German Sport University in Cologne. While a student here, he gained an insight into the event and meeting sector in Cologne.

“I’m strongly motivated to take on this work for the lively and excellently positioned Cologne events sector,” says Schäfer. “Together with the expert and likable CCB team, I want to carry on the excellent work and enhance it with my own experience and abilities.”

Stephanie Kleine Klausing, Deputy CEO of the Cologne Tourist Board: “We are very pleased to have gained Jan-Philipp Schäfer for the leadership of this important section of the Cologne Tourist Board and welcome him to the team. He will lead the Cologne Convention Bureau into the next successful decade of its existence and further strengthen Cologne as a destination for conventions both nationally and internationally.“
