Seychelles is among the first in providing a new mobile phone technology service after the “Leisure and Business” guide promoters officially launched a new mobile application as a platform of information for local businesses.
This launching ceremony of this mobile technology took place during a cocktail party ceremony last week at Le Meridien Barbarons Beach Hotel. The event also celebrated the 4th edition of the “Seychelles Leisure and Business” guide.

The new phone application features general information about the destination including a business directory, a location service with Google maps, live weather forecasts, plus all the latest offers and tourism events. This new patented technology enables any application to be downloaded on all major smart phones on the market. It will work on such brands as iPhone, Blackerry, HTC, Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson. It will also be available worldwide through different platforms such as the well-known Apple application store.

This launch of this latest innovation in Seychelles is regarded as good news for the Seychelles tourism businesses, which will have the opportunity to be part of this application and promote their products under two categories, namely the Business Directory category, which will provide information on existing businesses, be it a restaurant, hotel, or other tourism service. The page will include a short paragraph describing the business and will give contact details with direct links to their email address and website. If one wants, he or she can even look up the location of the business on the island map.

The second category is the Tourism News and Offers category, which will keep people informed on the events taking place in the island’s tourism industry, as well as on ongoing offers in restaurants and hotels. With this application visitors to Seychelles will benefit, because they can find their way around the islands simply by clicking on their phone to see where to find the best offers or even how to get around to the island’s best beaches.

The new application is very user friendly and users merely have to download it on their mobile phone, and from there, they can use it anytime to find all the information they need. Laurent Alis, creator of the “Leisure & Business” phone application, has said that both visitors and locals will find this service very useful as information will be readily available on their phones. This new service is now possible through collaboration with Cable and Wireless and the Seychelles Tourism Board. Daniella Payet-Alis, a Director of the “Leisure and Business” Guide and a promoter of the new service, said when she opened the evening formality that she remained a keen supporter of the Seychelles tourism industry. She took the opportunity to retrace the launch of her “Leisure and Business” Guide some four years ago, and she thanked all the local industry partners who have been supportive of the venture.

স্যালিস ট্যুরিজম বোর্ডের প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা এবং অ্যালেন সেন্ট অ্যাঞ্জ eTurboNews ambassador, said when he was addressing the assembled guests that the Seychelles Tourism Board congratulated Daniella Payet-Alis and Laurent Alis for having had the foresight to bring out a new and needed facility for the island’s tourism industry. “The new phone application will go a long way to help make Seychelles more visible, which is the marketing country’s strategy for 2011. No single solution was available to Seychelles, and this latest initiative supported by the ‘Seychelles Leisure and Business Guide’ is welcomed especially when the Seychelles Tourism Board was forging ahead with its visibility program for Seychelles and will be launching the 2011 Seychelles ‘Carnaval International de Victoria’ as one of the island’s most important event,” Alain St.Ange said.

Seychelles Minister Peter Sinon also spoke to congratulate, on behalf of the government, the promoters of the new phone initiative, which he said would help make Seychelles more visible in the island’s main tourism markets. Laurent Alis took time to take the gathered guests at the evening through the new phone applications and explained the benefits of the application to local businesses. Other invited guests who addressed the evening’s ceremony were a representative of Cable & Wireless Seychelles, Capt. David Savy of Air Seychelles; Louis D’Offay, the Chairman of the Tourism Industry’s Association, the SHTA; and Pierre Delplace, the General Manager of Le Meridien Barbarons Beach Hotel.
